Gene regulation can be viewed as a series of molecular traits that link genotype to phenotype: chromatin structure, DNA methylation, transcription, splicing and translation. I took an integrative approach, combining functional, evolutionary and statistical genomics, to understand the genetic basis of these molecular traits, how they regulate one another, and how they contribute to phenotypes and environmental adaptation.
